Anti-Mubarak Protesters Scream for "Jihad" While Attacking other Egyptians

Out of a week of chaos in Egypt comes the bloodiest day yet.  Early Thursday morning, the military and anti-Mubarak protesters clashed while small groups of people opened fire on others.  The causality toll is quickly rising, as news stations show live streaming video of people being literally lit on fire and others being lynched in front of the camera.

Just as chilling is the fact that hundreds if not thousands of anti-Mubarak protesters have been screaming for "jihad" as they beat other Egyptians, possibly to death.

In Tehrir square in Cairo, many protesters were charging and screaming at supporters of Mubarak, calling for their death and a "jihad" against Mubarak and anyone who even seems to be supporting him.  This is most likely because of the radical Islamic group "Muslim Brotherhood," which is one of the major players striving for power in Egypt.

Ghannem stated that gas flowing from Egypt to Israel should stop immediately, “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.”  Once again, this would hurt the Mubarak regime and would also hurt the Israeli economy in the process. This comes hot on the heels of upper Muslim Brotherhood officials calling for a war against Israel and the closure of the Suez Canal:
However, Ghannem's most provocative statements came about war with Israel.  Talking about what the Muslim Brotherhood is prepared to do, Ghannem stated that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel.”  This implies that a war with Israel could be inevitable if the group takes substantial power in Egypt.
This also comes after much of the Main Stream Media, particularly MSNBC, said the Muslim Brotherhood had "no" or "almost no" influence in Egypt.  "Analysts" on the station also stated that conservatives were intentionally inflating the Muslim Brotherhood's influence in the country.

Even in this early morning, fires are burning much of Cairo, including a museum of ancient history.  Anti and pro-Mubarak supporters are attacking one another, while the military is shooting rounds (mostly into the air) to try and regain control and order.

Further making the situation tense is the fact that Jordan warned that, should Mubarak be kicked out of power, their peace treaty with Israel would likely end.  It has been one of the Muslim Brotherhood's major platforms to "prepare Egypt for war" with Israel.

  3. What do you mean by Jihad?
I am an Egyptian woman. Arabic is my mother tongue and I know that Jihad is NOT war..... and no one in Egypt wants war or even Jihad, this is a stupid thing to say.
Muslims brothers have very limited influence in Egypt. This is not at all about Israel.

  4. Jihad can be anything - including war. In any case lslam is in a permanent state of war with non lslam, and that suits me fine since it is my task to avenge all my fallen brothers.
My forebears fought under Richard, l will fight and my heirs will fight - until lslam is sent back to the shit hole it crawled out of. And that would be mohommads shit hole.

  5. so mr. anonymous, how do you explain the thousands of christians protesting alongside the muslims in tahrir square? are they shouting 'jihad' as well? which if you did your research on Egypt and its culture, jihad is a word rarely used by egyptians. they don't even have the phoneme J in their dialect!

  6. You know what I can't stand about statements like this? Is that it belittles your own Christen brethren. Egypt boasts one of the largest Christian populations in the Middle East. They are out there right alongside the Muslims protesting, and here you go undermining their efforts by misunderstanding them. 24 million people living on $2 a day, THATS what this is about.

  7. Anonymous is a big fat liar, obviously a MUSLIm to whom lying comes naturally as breathing!! There are NO CHRISTIANS demonstrating with muslims , the Coptic Pope has told Christians to stay safe at home, not go on the streets, The last thing they want is Mubarak gone, the devil they know is better than the devil they don't! and they are aware they'll be worse off under a muslim Brotherhood influenced regime... Enough of them are killed, bombed in their churches as it is under Mubarak, now with radicals at the helm, they will really suffer. There will be a great slaughter of Christians in the land, mark my words!

  8. Hello there :) I'm an Egyptian American with several contacts to my fellow Christians in Egypt. I can confirm that what 'anonymous' has said is true. They are telling me that, yes, while 'Baba Shenoda', you may know him as Pope Shenouda III, has asked for Christians to avoid the protest, they feel they are a part of the Egyptian society and want change as much as their Muslim counterparts. This protest seems to know no boundaries of religion. We must pray for our fellow Egyptian Christians to see a government that takes care of its people.

  10. I'm so glad Glenn Reynolds linked to this crazy web site -- it shows very clearly how "pro-democracy" Glenn is just another "conservative" hypocrite, and a bigot to boot.

  11. "Jihad" does mean struggle, too.

Although it could be "my struggle" if you catch my drift.

My own family in Egypt, who are Christian, are gratified by the demonstrations of solidarity between Muslims and Christians in the face of grave circumstances, the rotten fruits of Mubarak’s reign. And if we look to history, we will find that this is hardly surprising.

When Egyptians have risen up and demanded their rights, they have done so as a people. This was the case during the revolution of 1952 as it was during resistance movements to British occupation in 1882 and 1919. Now we are witnessing a revolutionary moment in 2011, and the structure of Western mainstream discourse obscures the obvious.

A long time ago foreign powers, with the United States in the first place, cast their lot with the dictator. Now the Egyptian people are having their say.

  14. so mr. anonymous, how do you explain the thousands of Christians protesting alongside the Muslims in tahrir square?
But it is simple. The protest started as a protest against Mubarak. Protesters were at first just secular protesters, but later people from Muslim Brotherhood and others also went to Tahrir. They also protest against Mubarak but their agenda is not the same as Copts. They want sharia as a law. Copts don't.
It is, somewhat, like Iran in 1979. Protest started as secular protests, ended as theocratic "revolution"

  15. Well, the implication of that statement is that the Copts are dumbasses that are out there fighting for and getting injured in the name something that could turn into 'radical islam'. That they are not smart enough to figure out their own politics, in the country they have lived in for THOUSANDS of years. You are a work of art.

  16. Egypt will not be going to war with Israel; however, it is likely that Israel will attack Egypt in the ensuing chaos of Mubarak's ousting. This article smacks of Zionist propaganda. I know that writers expect people to accept this sort of Arab bashing, because we've heard it all our lives from the Zionist media. Nonetheless, most non Jews are tired of the world having to pay the ongoing price of Israel's expansionist agenda. What is happening in Egypt will occur in countries across the globe.

  19. Wow.. look at you all! out there in the world watching through televisions...calling people up on phones. How about this... I was actually there.

You know, anyone who knows anything about human nature will tell you that in a situation of crisis, everyone needs direction..someone to blame. Reality is that everyone has an opinion whether it is bi-polar, black or white.

While you're still fighting amongst yourselves about what you think is right about Egypt, let me give you some food for thought. Media has got you all brainwashed. You believe EXACTLY what you're intended to believe....sorry.

Truth is that Egypt is over 7000 years old and long after we pass these days, made critical by the onslaught of foreign agendas, we will emerge stronger and more united than ever before. We, the people, will continue to carry the deserts in our eyes, tattoo henna to our skin, and the Nile will forever run though our veins, as we have done for millennia, while other civilizations rose and fell in our shadows.

  20. AGREED!!

Politics NEVER include people's right unless it furthers the political agenda.

I am an Egyptian Citizen for World Peace, but I am also heartbroken at how my president was overthrown by the minority! who, yes, I promise you had outside help AND training.

What happened in Egypt was a very carefully executed media war.

  21. Hey, these are just moderate Muslims. I know so, because Barack Obama told me so.

For anyone interested who is interested, the Simon Wiesenthal center has put out a report on the Muslim Brotherhood, it'll blow away anyone who dares describe them as 'moderate'. They've been waiting for the opportunity to seize control of Egypt. Lets hope they're condemned to the shadows for eternity.
