O'Donnell: I Was Obama's Top Target

Former Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell has re-entered the headlines. The Delaware native has recently announced that she has signed a book deal after her defeat in the Senate race last year. In that election, Miss O'Donnell polled 40% in a largely blue state. O'Donnell gained much traction with many conservatives last year after Mark Levin and other radio hosts endorsed her over Representative Mike Castle for the nomination. The primary in September gained national attention and saw O'Donnell beating Castle 53-47%.

Now O'Donnell is back in the spotlight, saying that the White House had pegged her as the number one target in the 2010 midterms. This has come out in an email circulated from her to her supporters. This also comes after frequent ridicule by Democrats and the media.

O'Donnell ran against then-Senator Joe Biden in 2006 as the Republican nominee. This year's race also saw O'Donnell win a primary challenge just as former Senator Bob Bennett lost his nomination to a Tea Party candidate, Mike Lee. Sharron Angle also beat Sue Lowden for the GOP candidacy in Nevada.

In an e-mail message sent midday, the tea party-backed Republican told her backers they “are the reason that President Obama came to Delaware in late 2010, diverting his attention from other states he could have campaigned in” and “the reason that a frantic White House dispatched Vice President Joe Biden, again and again, to campaign in Delaware to defeat me, who they regarded as their number one opponent.”
O'Donnell has also announced the creation of ChristinePAC that will "enable me to counter the liberal-controlled GOP establishment in upcoming congressional primaries." This comes after she defeated long-time Congressman Mike Castle in the GOP primary last year.

O'Donnell has also hinted that she may run again, as she ran for Senate in 2006, 2008, and 2010, losing each time.
