Libyan Pilots That Flew to Malta: We Were told to Bomb Protesters

In an update to a news story that received press earlier today, the two Libyan pilots that flew to Malta earlier today have explained their actions:  they defected because they were "asked to bomb protesters."

It was also reported earlier that Libyan jets had opened fire on civilians.  Not only does the statement from the pilots confirm that report, but it also shows that the Gaddafi regime gave the order to fire on protesters with jet fighters.

A Reuters story explains:
Two Libyan Air Force fighter pilots defected on Monday and flew their jets to Malta where they told authorities they had been ordered to bomb protesters, Maltese government officials said.
They said the two pilots, both colonels, took off from a base near Tripoli. One of them has requested political asylum.
This further shows that Gaddafi's military is not completely loyal to him anymore, something that could signal the collapse of his regime.

  2. I spotted Barry Costello Monelle Delmonte carrying some fish and chips from Colonel Gaddafi's Tripoli based Casbah Fish and Chip Shop, called Young's Wired Fish Emporium back in Blackpool in Lancashire when he stepped off the second plane. He was NOT a happy bunny. Will he be happier in Spain? Only time will tell..
